Sgt James Foster O'Bryan served with H Company, 417th Infantry as a heavy machine gunner. Like almost all of these proud WW2 vets he never complained and even refused to file disability despite 40% war related hearing loss. He passed away in 1988. His complete record with photo is in wwiimemorial.com WW2 database registry.  To perserve their memories and records I encourage its usage. If you have a copy of their discharges it helps. My Dad almost never discussed the war, but our family still has his captured Walther PPK and some of his medals including Bronze Star/V. Note, an official 250 page history of the 76th Division was pubulished by 1LT J. Hutnik. I was able to view it on-line when I typed into Google (using quotation marks) "Sgt James F O'Bryan" to find his name in the decorations section. From there you can read almost all of this publication. I would welcome hearing from his comrades or families.

My great uncle was living in Prescott Arizona when he was drafted into the army. He died in battle March 30 1945. He was apart of the 417 infantry the 76 Division. I have a picture of his grave in France but would like to acquire any information that surrounded the battle in which he died. His rank was private and his name was Benjamin H. Weston.

I just want to thank ALL members of our Armed Forces for their service and their sacrifices.  I'm writing here because, my paternal Grandfather: Russel Howard Bowles of Morehead Ky, served in the 76th Inf Div, 417th reg, K company, in Patton's 3rd Army during WWII.

Papaw never talked much about the war, and told very few stories of his involvement.  I am currently in possession of what few items that remain from his time in the service.  In addition to these items, I am also in possession of my maternal Great Grandfather's belongings from the 80th Div 314th MG Battalion B company from WWI.

I am proud to have two Grandfathers who served our Country in those difficult times of War, and Glad that they both lived out long and prosperous life's.

God Bless the USA, and God Bless ALL of Those who Serve.
Jeremy

Good project. I am looking for information and hopefully contacts with veterans who served in Company B of the 385th Infantry during the Winter Campaign of WWII in the ETO. I was a S/Sgt commanding HQ. Unit of Company B under the command of Captain James W. Miller.  I have the book of the 385th's history in the ETO, "385th in the ETO" published in 1945 in Zwickau, Germany. I joined the 385th at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin, in the Spring of 1944 after|I obtained a transfer from an engineer battalion stationed in North Carolina.

Please email me for contact giving me your contact information because I need to learn more about certain events. I'd like your  phone number, as well, if you are willing. My mailing address is Maxwell Aley, 39713 Panorama Road, Paonia, CO 81428.
